About the team
Axis Commercial Finance was established in June 2006. The team are Steve Chester, Paul Bagnall, Esther Bennett, Nick Lewis-Perrins and Anna Kellett.
Steve Chester

Steve has been arranging commercial mortgages since 1988.
Having graduated as a Bachelor of Law in the summer of 1988, he took a position with a specialist firm of commercial mortgage brokers handling a wide variety of loan applications for the owner occupied market. He left in 1995 to take a position as a finance broker for a leading firm of commercial agents.
During the following 11 years, Steve gained extensive experience in hotels and leisure along with healthcare. He has during that time acted on behalf of a number of multiple operators, been responsible for arranging large single asset facilities and managed a nationwide team of brokers.
In May 2006, he decided to pursue an independent career, setting up Axis shortly after. He prides himself on his experience, the relationships he has with the lending and wider professional community and of his accessibility and drive on behalf of the clients for which he acts.
Paul Bagnall

Paul has been arranging commercial mortgages since 2002.
A graduate of European Business and German from MMU Business School and Fachhochschule Bochum in Germany, Paul has worked in finance since 1998.
In 2002 he joined a brokerage specialising exclusively in the SME market. As that company’s top performing broker and after establishing and developing offices in both the south east and north west, Paul decided to join Axis in November 2007.
With strong relationships with many specialist lenders, Paul is experienced in guiding both new and experienced purchasers and operators through the business mortgage process, using his attention to detail at all stages and commitment to each deal through to completion – and beyond – for his clients.
Esther Bennett

Following a direct sales background Esther started arranging commercial mortgages in 2002.
After 5 years working within an agency she decided to work with an IFA practice in Norfolk in which time she developed new contacts to work alongside the key lenders she had already developed. These include the BIIAB, planners, architects and pension providers.
Esther joined Axis Commercial Finance in March 2008 and is working within the hotel, healthcare and licensed and leisure Sectors as well as property related finance and SIPP mortgages.
Nick Lewis-Perrins

Nick joined Axis in May 2008. Having been involved in finance since 1994, Nick commenced his career with Lloyds TSB before specialising in the leisure and healthcare fields following his move to a mortgage brokers in early 2003.
With experience of both the broking and lending sides of the business, he is well placed to assist clients in all aspects of the mortgage process. Working closely with clients Nick is able to offer new entrants and established clients the benefit of his considerable experience.
Anna Kellett

A specialist in residential investment, Anna has been arranging buy to let mortgages since 2000. Prior to that date she accumulated experience in the lettings field. Negotiating facilities for both single assets as well as portfolios Anna has access to the full range of facilities supplied by the key UK lenders.
